Installation of MK 1 and tips

Installation
Easy DIY interlocking system.  Easy to cut for the perfect fit.  No adhesion required except in special circumstances.

Preparation
Where possible, installation should be done at a regular temperature.  Open all packs and allow tiles to acclimatise for a minimum of 24 hours.

Make sure that all tiles are from the same batch if used in large area.

Leave a 5mm expansion gap between tiles and wall to allow for expansion and contraction when temperature changes occur.

No glue is require unless the tiles are located in direct sunlight or where there is industrial traffic, where a two part polyurethane adhesive is to be used (telephone Pekay Chemicals or Qualichem). Avoid glue where possible as it restricts expansion and can lead to other problems.

Working Method
Start installation from the most visible corner, working outwards toward the sides.  This ensures even distribution of the weight and surface.

Use a rubber mallet or engineering hammer for fitting. As you are working with a rubber product, work the interlock gently into place. Over hitting with hammer can lead to squashing of edges. If this happens clean with flexible blade.

Finishing and Edges
Wait 24hrs before cutting the edge sections.  This will allow the tiles to settle and expand fully.

To get the best results when cutting use a table saw or jigsaw.  A Stanley knife is also useful.

Finish the 5mm expansion gap with either a bead or silicon, skirting profile or aluminium strip – these must not restrict the expansion process.

Purchase a ramp separately if required.  Cut mitre or straight edge as required.

Cleaning
Clean with soap and warm water.  Tile cleaner also helps to remove release agent and initial odour which soon disappears.
